Timothy J. Mynahan 1970-1991Timothy J. Mynahan, son of Timothy and Bernadette Mynahan was born June 6, 1970, in Lewiston. Throughout his life, he demonstrated consistent excellence in academics and athletics. He was an active participant in ice hockey and soccer. An intense player on the varsity soccer team, he received post-season accolades as the team's most outstanding defensive player, and was also selected to the first time all SMAA. Tim graduated from Lewiston High School in 1988 as valedictorian of his class. In addition to being a standout on the playing field and in the classroom, he was also a member of the National Honor Society and an officer in the Key Club. Tim's dedication and commitment as a student and athlete helped him to establish his reputation as an outstanding individual. His drive for success adn admirable character made him a role model for many other students.

In Tim's collegiate years at the College of the Holy Cross, he maintained the same level of academic excellence he had demanded of himself while in high school. He also demonstrated teh social awareness and community service that, in the Holy Cross tradition, made him a "person for the other people". Because of the qualities he demonstrated, Tim was twice the recipient of the Charles A. Dana Scholarship. This award, based on both intellectual and leadership ability, is one of the most prestigious awards a Holy Cross student can receive. In addition, Tim was selected as a member of the Alpha Sigma Nu National Jesuit Honor Society, which is as selective and prestigious an award as the Dana Scholarship.

As demonstrated by his many accomplishments. Tim was a talented student and gifted leader, and had a profound impact on those around him. The Timothy J. Mynahan Foundation is a private, non-profit organization established in 1991. It was established as a tribute to Timothy J. Mynahan, who died on August 11, 1991 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. This organization will provide Scholarship assistance in the amount of $2,500.00 for deserving high school students in the Lewiston-Auburn and Lisbon areas.

The Scholarship will be awarded to students who have demonstrated academic, athletic, and leadership abilities. The high school senior must have a cumulative grade point average of 85 or better. In addition, he/she must have participated in at least one varsity sport. Participation in other extracurricular activities (j,e, clubs or volunteering) will also be taken into consideration.
